Seattle Central is trucking along with their new renovations, and won’t be losing steam over winter break. New copper piping is on the way, and should make for some tasty water come the new year. Here is an update from the school:
From Chuck Davis, Director of Facilities and Plant Operations, Seattle Central:
Over the past several weeks, the Engineering department has been coordinating with our ESCO team to make improvements to the domestic water system in the Broadway Edison building. The life of the existing galvanized piping has been reached and is now being replaced with new copper supply lines. During the upcoming break, we will be making the switch from the old system to the new. The contractor has provided us with the following schedule. It outlines the impacts that will occur as we transition from the galvanized pipes tothe new copper pipes:
Saturday Dec. 15th; All water throughout the school will be shut-off from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Water service will be restored to the Central and South Restrooms by 6:00 PM. The North Restrooms will remain off-line.
Tuesday Dec. 18th; Water service will be restored to the North Restrooms by 6:00 PM.
Demolition of the old piping will begin Monday Dec. 17th and complete Dec. 28th. This will not affect water service.
